MultiMode should negotiate the highest possible standard, which will be ADSL2+ if you're on 21CN (unless your line has been specifically configured otherwise by BT, e.g. for stability purposes). On most modems/router you can check what was negotiated once you are connected.
21CN will work with either PPPoA or PPPoE.
