Hi Adam, It was the PlusNet Abuse Team part. After all, I'm not an abuser! Why would I ever get an email from any Abuse Team? I'm a long standing reputible customer who always pays his bill on time. ;) Added my attempt at different wording in my initial post. Obviously not done the whole thing (you must have lovely PR people who can advise on all that? Yeah meant the warning email about the webspace nearing limit. I didn't get anything saying I was approaching my allocation, only the email telling me I'd gone over it and was now an abuser. Boohoo. :'(

Went to ask a question about this, but it pointed me to the Feedback category on the Community Forum so I'll go ahead and post here. Have recently started using my webspace allocation and due to a mistake on my part I have exceeded it. Didn't realise I was near the quota so when I woke up to find an email from the PlusNet Abuse Team I naturally started to think the worst.. had someone hacked into my account and raised lots of abusive questions? Have they changed my bank details to those of Her Maj? Has the CEO received several dozen messages from me saying that Lancashire is far better than Yorkshire? Who knew..? Reading the rest of the message all became clear, and my unease subsided: ---- Dear Customer, It has come to our attention that in the last 24 hours your website has exceeded its webspace allowance. Because your site has only gone over the usage limit by a small amount, no action will be taken. Your website was using 4482 KB over its allocation in the last day. You may be interested in upgrading to an account with a higher webspace quota; details of the bandwidth allowances are available on our website at the following URL: http://www.plus.net/support/webspace/tips_and_info/webspace_faq.shtml#9 Please take precautions to ensure that the usage on your site is reduced, as further infringements may result in your webspace being restricted, or even removed. Kind regards, PlusNet Abuse Team http://www.plus.net/ Email ref: E0426 ---- I just think the whole tone of that message is a bit harsh. Coming from the PlusNet Abuse Team wasn't a great thing either. It was only a small amount over, and it is a first offence, so why not have wording which would reflect that? 'We've noticed that your website is over it's allocated usage. Is this something you need to check or would more space be beneficial?' Why bring in the threat of 'further infringements may result in your webspace being restricted, or even removed'?. Would probably expect this if I was a serial offender, using oddles of allocation over my limit, but for 4mb over..? Or, just chop it at my limit so nothing else can be posted until it's reduced, similar to the web usage limits. Anyway, it's all been cleared down now and my sincere apologies for exceeding my allocation. I hope that I'm not going to be labelled as an abuser on the PlusNet Abuse Team's wall of shame? Out of interest, is there the facility to generate a warning email or usage summary or is that only available via the Member Centre? C

Just had to disconnect as speed dropped down so far the net was practically unusable. Was on ptn-ago3 Telehouse North Just had to chuckle.. forgot I did a speedtest before disconnecting. 22Mb/s too slow.. hahaha. But seriously, pages did start to timeout. Reconnected and back at max speed - now on pcl-ag04 City Lifeline House More like it.

Wow... all done. BT engineer called about 12:30 to say he was at the cab and would it be ok if he came round once he'd done. Got here, I explained about the extension, no problem he said. (He'd been offered and received his cup of tea by this point) ;) He put in the extension wiring, drilled through the wall and fitted a new socket which he made the master, making the old master an extension. Plugged in the BT modem, DSL light appeared green, he did some more checks, including the phone line itself, then left me to it (he'd noticed I had my own router so asked if I was happy with the setup and left me to it). Router connected through first time.. very impressed Will leave it to settle down then tidy up the modem/router and cables in their new home. Have to say, I was dreading this day. The BT OR guy was exceptional. Very chatty, really pleasant.. seemed like nothing was too much trouble. PN guys, if you have any way of submitting feedback to BTO about good installs please submit a good work report on behalf of the engineer that attended today. Not only did everything go totally smoothly, he was a really nice chap! Install started around 12:30, was online and connected by 13:00. Top marks. Thank you all, both at PN and BTO. C.

Copious amounts of tea and biscuits on standby.. Chris, thanks for clarifying. Apologies if I missed it on the ordering page. I don't think I remembered seeing that the engineer brought that with him. If it's not mentioned on there, perhaps add that bit of info so that people are aware that it won't be getting delivered with the router and it comes with the engineer. If I did miss it, I'll be sure to go see the optician. ;) C.

Yeah Mushy, the master socket is in a pretty awkward place so wanted an extension fitting, through to the next room (I'll drill the hole if there's any issues with that), and the OR modem and my modem being located in there. I'll be sure to mention it to the engineer.. I just hope the extension request is on his work docket or he takes my word for it. Watch this space... C

Thanks Chris, will do. Just opened up the box and can't find any extension cabling that was requested at the time of the upgrade. Does this come separately? The install is due for tomorrow afternoon.. will the BTO engineer have some if the PN supplied cable doesn't turn up? C.

Thanking yee MisterW. Bit more feedback for PN with regards to this. Got the notice that the router had been despatched on Monday eve. Wasn't sure if it would be delivered yesterday or today.. got in last night and checked the postbox and saw nothing so wasn't too concerned. This morning as I was heading out to work I noticed a parcel that had been left by our bike shed (it's a gated complex with a covered bike area by the entrance). As it was dark when I got in I'd not noticed this parcel but it turns out that it's the router. Excellent delivery from PN (my £4.99 was put to good use), however, for that price I'd expect it to have been left somewhere more secure and not open to the elements or anyone else to walk off with. As it is, the router spent the night outside in temperatures of around -4C. Hope it still works (good job I've got another). Think you should have a word with the Royal Mail about where they abandon your parcels, or change to a company that takes a little more pride in the job it does. C

Got notification of my router dispatch. To be honest I've already bought a new ASUS N66 router which I plan on using (keep the PN router as spare/backup/troubleshooter). Can someone just clarify two points for me..? Firstly, with the new router, do I need to enter my PN username and password (know that sounds stupid but I've seen many articles for Infinity that say the password field isn't used and that can either be left blank or you can put anything in as password, it only looks for username)? Second, is there a chance I'll get different connection speeds with the different routers? Is it not the BT OR modem that will hold the line speed and connection stability? Many thanks, C.

As it's the feedback section I'd just like to say that placing my order for Fibre just went through without a hitch. I am slightly apprehensive seeing the number of missed appointments that seem to be going on but I guess each order is unique (and not everyone with a successful appointment posts here to point that out). I will post to say what happens (hopefully it'll be positive!) Just one for any of the Digi-care team.. I've requested a router. If you do have any lovely Netgear units lying around could I have one of those please? I'm a Netgear house through and through so would just be nice. Thanking-yee! C.

The portal has always been slow to log in for me.. a few seconds ago it took about 10 seconds to log in. Usually it's at least 5 seconds. Doesn't sound much, but when you're used to systems logging you in fairly instantly it does make you wonder what's different.

Had ADSL with PlusNet since 2004, and had it installed at my folks place back in 2010. We left the phone service as-was. Today I took the plunge and made the call to switch my service over. The lady I spoke to was so polite and friendly. I couldn't believe how quick the whole process was too as the order was placed within a couple of minutes. Was so impressed I switched the folks line over too (having already got the OK if things went well!) so there you go. Give it a couple of weeks and I'll only be having one bill for phone and ADSL.. nice. Thanks PlusNet! C

I'm glad you weren't on the other end of the phone otherwise PN would now be around seven accounts less. It's all about customer service, which a lot of people seem to not really care about anymore. Something has happened to disrupt my service, through no fault of my own. It's no use quoting me what I need to ensure I have when someone else has changed that service without my knowledge due to an issue with their processes. I would argue whether a £65 charge is worth losing the monthly payments from those other accounts going forward. That charge would be recouped in a matter of weeks and as PN are providing that service why can't they liase with the phone provider to get this resolved and recoup any charges themselves - again, customer service, although I'm sure the fantastic DPA will come into this. Thankfully I had a really polite lady who did what she could in the situation and talked me into staying. If I'd had someone quoting my responsibilities to me it would have been a very different conversation.

Hi Matt, I'm not trying to lay fault at the door of PlusNet. Like I said, I've been a customer since 2004 and if I wasn't happy with the service I'd have gone a long time ago (taking my referrers with me (benefit of being the family techie)). What I am right miffed about is the fact that someone else has screwed up not only my phone line (I have a new number which I've added into one of the newer tickets that have been created to cover this issue) and they've also cut off my broadband which is provided by an entirely different company (and that I'm still paying for even though I can't use it). The lady I spoke to on the phone about this on Friday referred to a PlusNet 'asset' being removed from the line. How can another company remove your equipment from a line - surely there should be some checks and balances to stop disruption to service? I will be having quite a lot to say to the Post Office about this situation, there's no worries about that. What irritated me, as stated earlier, was that despite me being a long-standing customer, having gone through several home-moves with you and having several referrers to PlusNet, I was still told that I'd have to pay the £65 fee. There was no ofer of help in the first instance - this had to be pushed for. Even paying half of this leaves a sour taste - as far as I'm concerned, someone in the Exchange has interrupted the service of one of your customers. PlusNet should be persuing the Post Office to get this issue resolved, PlusNet should be pushing for the fee from the Post Office, not from me. I'm the poor sod in the middle of this, now out of pocket through no fault of my own. I only hope the service can be reprovisioned quickly - else it could be another week without service. It's left me feeling very frustrated and showed me that brand loyalty really does mean nothing these days.
