Been having issues with 5GHz connections for a few days and some googling has led me to this thread. My router is running the 263 firmware. Have only had the router a few months after using the Netgear I was sent well over 5 years ago when I joined the FTTP trial in Milton Keynes. Was sent the new router as a sort of compensation for my account being inexplicably closed for no apparent reason and having to set up a completely new account but that's a whole different story! Having been on the FTTP trial for years and had no problems it has been a nightmare few months with the disconnection, account being locked out for non payment when no payment wasa due and now this issue. CityFibre and Vodafone have just laid a fibre cable down our street and will be offering 500Mbps up and down for £38 a month including line rental which will start to look very appealing if I keep having issues. That make sense nibor. The trouble is, at the moment FTTP is still a trial and so I'm still paying ADSL rate of £11.49. They've told us if we switch to a fibre package *after* the trial we'd pay the fibre package rate but it appears I can select pro add-on now whilst I'm still on the trial. If I select it, does this mean I get FTTP with 60GB download and line speed for £11.49 + £5.00? That would be a good option for me, especially if gaming is now going to be restricted for me to 5Mbps. Or, will my gaming remain at line speed because I'm on ADSL terms rather than fibre terms? I also work from home occasionally and VPN is restricted to 2Mbps, with pro add-on this would be at line speed too. ... View more
