Re: Interleaved / fastpath ?????

Hi waynem
As you can see I have a Belkin router too, even though it says interleave path, this doesn't mean interleaving is on. When interleaving is on my line I have a ping of 35, when it interleaving is off I have a ping of 5.  i don't know the state of interleaving on your line mate, but take no notice of the Belkin interleave path Wink

Type  Interleave Path
  Status  SHOWTIME
                                 Downstream  Upstream
  Data rate(Kbps)      10969                      1187
  Noise Margin                6                            6
  Output power(dBm)  12                            20
  Attenuation(dB)          29                           16

Edit, I have self healing turned off all the time because I could leave my router on for 3 weeks with no disconnections, and as soon as I do a reset my sync could drop anything up to 3Mb/s. Infact I have put a box over my router because I am too worried to even look at it incase it resets and I lose 3 Meg sync  Roll_eyes

Re: Interleaved / fastpath ?????

Hi Matt
6900 figure is like a 1000 less than it has been showing for the past few days and speed has dropped off and sometimes  it seems to be all over the place and it all seems to have happened  after the 10 day settling down period and even more so since the 21cn message and the email telling how good my connection is (was).
also it would have been well faster than the middle of last month as i didnt  have an connection till 25th july ! ,dont get me wrong its not talktalk level , but seems to be heading downward ! .
Hi James M
i dream of 5ms ping and 10 meg D/L  .on speedtest.net ping is around 20 / 25  U/L stable at 980 ish .with regards to the belkin , my other belkin before the change did show it as fastpath if like matt says it has  gone over to fastpath  then it seems to me to be a backward step , maybe i need to restart router  Undecided

Re: Interleaved / fastpath ?????

Which Belkin is it ? mine is the f7d 2401 uk v1. N300.  The Belkin gives me great wireless and a faster speed than the Thomson or technicolour, but the speedtest gives me a 5 ms ping, when I command prompt to plusnet the ping is around 15, and ingame (BF3) my ping is around 11 on the servers.
I know what you mean about your speed being low, even though mine is higher then yours with the lower attenuation, my sync with a 29 attenuation should be around 15000 - 16000, but I am stuck with a 10000 to 11000 sync which annoys me no end. When I try to reset to get my sync higher it drops instead.
With your ping of 20 - 25, I would say that interleaving is definately off for you. If it isn't then restarting the router won't help, I had a on-going discussion with Plusnet for about 3 months as I kept being told interleaving was off and I knew it wasn't. Anyway 3 months later it was finally turned off.
Do you have a thomson or technicolor router ?  If so you can usually tell by looking at the FEC errors, if there isn't any FEC errors then interleaving is off.
You will more than likely have to wait until Monday now for any reply from Plusnet here.

Re: Interleaved / fastpath ?????

I know where you are coming from, my sync after the switch over to ADSL 2 was 13330 and it gradually got slower until it was 9700, not very happy, but what can you do. I have tried everything at my end, bought a new router, tried umpteen filters, umpteen Cat cables, got rid of my answering machine, rewired everything concerned with my BB, had a BT engineer out.  My line is as solid as a rock yet BT say my profile is around 9700 and as long as it is between 4Mb and 24Mb they don't give a ****.

Re: Interleaved / fastpath ?????

Are you having any unplanned disconnections over night ? The rule of thumb by the helpful people on these forums is to power down early in the morning if you need a restart, so if you are having a unplanned disconnection late at night then this may be causing your sync and speed to drop.
Edit,
You should try the PC version mate, all I use is my mouse to fire and look down the scope, the arrow keys to move forward and back, right shift key to jump (not bunny hop though like some pratts do) right control key for crouch and the key just to the left of the right control key for sprinting. I also use 2 buttons on the side of my mouse, one for relaod and one to throw grenades and the mouse wheel for changing weapons. Granted I lose a few one on one battles because I have just fired a SMAW at a LAV and an enemy runs around the corner and I am scrolling my mouse wheel like an idiot trying to get my machine gun back, but apart from that I play OK.

Re: Interleaved / fastpath ?????

as far as i know there have been no unplanned disconnections  ... after i did restart earlier  D/l  sync Huh  went from 6936 to something like 6908  but it did bring speed back to the low end of what i expect after having such great speed thru the training 10 days !!! ... anyway hopefully things will get sorted ! ...
as for PC B/F 3  just reading the amount of buttons you use has worn me out ! ... i,m sure it comes natural if you use them all the time but just thinking about it makes my head hurt ..... i have a question  can PC players  also play on the xbox servers Huh

Re: Interleaved / fastpath ?????

Unfortunately not, you can only play the game on the format you bought it for, If someone brought out a keyboard and mouse that worked with FPS on the consoles I would play them. It would save a fortune on keep upgrading my PC.
I don't know if you know this, but if you go into your router page, and click on security log, it will give you around 3 days of information as to what has been happening with your router. I check mine everyday to see if it dropped connection.

Re: Interleaved / fastpath ?????

@waynem
How are the connection speeds at the moment? I've run a few checks and the sync speed is 6648kbps which is supporting a line rate of 6119kbps so no issues there as far as can be seen, so if speeds are still an issue that would lean towards a throughput issue.
Here's how the connection's looking in terms of stability at the moment:

Re: Interleaved / fastpath ?????

Hi Adam
thanks for posting that 3 of the disconnection there were unscheduled !  i dont know why ? others were done by me , speed is pretty stable  but i,ve lost abit cos of the restarts .
current stats
.
speed wise it seems to be heading in a downward spiral !  ...at the end of training i was getting around 6.1 ! ..
i have nothing else pluged into any sockets and the router is in the master socket  , only difference is that i changed my router at the end of the training period ...which accounts for a couple of disconnections while updating firmware etc of new router ! ..
any ideas or help  to get back to were i was would be greatfully  receieved !
cheers

Re: Interleaved / fastpath ?????

Hi waynem,
I've tested your line and gone over your account checking for issues this afternoon.
Your sync rate stands at 6646kbps.  Your line is however currently capped at this speed however as the exchange systems have detected a large amount of errors on your line and so applied a "banded profile".  The band currently applied is the 3Mbps to 6Mbps band (3328kbps to 6656kbps).  I would strongly recommend that we enable interleaving on your line to ensure the errors are corrected and to prevent this issue occurring in the future.
I have sent a request to our supplier to remove the banding for you and allow higher speeds.  Bear in mind that the banding may be re-applied if your line continues to error at the current rate.  Please let us know if you would like us to enable interleaving and we'll place an order to do this for you.
Any questions, just ask!

Re: Interleaved / fastpath ?????

Hi Alex
thanks for that ,
with regards interleaving if you feel this would be best then go ahead , what are the likely effects  , the main reason for the fast path idea was for gaming , but as long as the interleaving doesnt have a big detrimental effect on ping etc .. then i,m more than happy for you reapply Interleaving to my line .
Just to add , have just looked at my security and it shows disconnection at 2.30 am ish almost exactly the same time as sunday mornings disconnection ! ..so dont really know whats going on there ?  Sad
Thanks
