Re: Vanishing green cabinets

thanks for your help, at last something I can understand
the guys at Superfast Cornwall say I'm on Cab17 - FTTP one day maybe...
Cab19 has been upgraded to FTTC and I know some are connected to it now
Cab39 I have no clue about, never seen that one

Re: Vanishing green cabinets

thanks a lot for your help
I now know where Cab39 is Smiley - even though it's not mine
near as I can tell, "Tranche 2" means "should be done by the end of March"
although that seems a very loose definition, might apply to the exchange, not necessarily the Cab

Re: Vanishing green cabinets

podman, having spent the evening trying to find out about my own connection, I can offer you this link ~
http://fttc-check.alc.im/
which would suggest your connection is ~
Exchange Code WSCAM ~ Exchange Name GLASGOW CAMBUSLANG
Area Postcode  G727GG ~ Cabinet Number 15

Re: Vanishing green cabinets

Cheers for that link. I have looked all over too and not found anything as useful as that. The results say:
Exchange Code
   WSCAM
Exchange Name
   GLASGOW CAMBUSLANG
Area Postcode
   G727GG
Cabinet Number
   15
Direct Exchange Connection
   No
Percentage of Lines Serving Postcode
   92%
Uplift
   4.09
Phase
   9a
Deployed
   Yes
Does this mean FTTC is installed already?
[modified] oh just read earlier post noting Deployed Yes means scheduled 😞 [modified]
Fibre Type
   FTTC

Re: Vanishing green cabinets

I have found http://www.roadworks.org/ useful for finding out if any digging is going on locally
and my council planning site - planning was applied for Cab39 a few weeks ago - nothing for my Cab17 though Sad

Re: Vanishing green cabinets

I've also found that road works website very useful, as it covers my area (not all County's are covered), you can also set up an email alert for an area or even just a particular road.
I've actually produced a PCP map of my local area, so any one in Thanet can check their cabinet http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=215548689936821040259.0004bb3b5e7a3aa9095a0&msa=0&ll=51.337137...

There's also another checker on the Think Broadband forums which people can also use http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/fibre/f/4100434-fibre-availability-checker.html?page=6&vc=1 links in the first post.
PS. BT don't need planning permission unless they are in a conservation area, they basically have special powers which permit them to site their cabinets anywhere at the side of the public highway, but they always need a street works permit, hence the roadworks website is so useful.

Re: Vanishing green cabinets

well that's even more good news, (at least it could be happening)
I wonder why they bothered with <a href="http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=50.208855,-5.287589&spn=0.002558,0.004823&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=50.208902,-5.287742&panoid=o3TyUaO-8hhOeG7Oa6OVIg&cbp=12,155.06,,0,28.16">Cab39</a> though, no chance that's in a conservation area

Re: Vanishing green cabinets

It would be great if anyone had any idea about the Blackburn Exchange in lancashire.  Is it due to be upgraded ever??  Cant find any info at all, even BT have no idea.

Re: Vanishing green cabinets

@penfold, there's no mention of Blackburn in the December spreadsheet, not even the exchange code (LCBLK). I wonder if Blackburn is up for some Government funding, don't think BT is doing these areas yet, they're holding out for the funding.
I did find this http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/darwen/9578415.Superfast_broadband_expansion_set_for_Black...
Might pay you to ask the question on the http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/fibre.html forums.

Re: Vanishing green cabinets

Hi penfold,
I've just checked our supplier's systems and there's definitely no plans for FTTC at this time at your exchange.
