recommendation of good adsl wireless router?

Personally speaking I have never ever had a problem with netgear kit. I have an 8 port switch, 8 port firewall router and a wireless access point which have all worked flawlessly out of the box. I've had 2 linksys items (a wireless access point and a switch) both of which were DOA. Even better, you can't configure a linksys WAP without the CD, and if the firmware is upgraded you actually need to use a different CD.

My mum is currently using a 3com wireless router which is giving problems and not as easy to set up as the netgear kit.

That's entirely a personal recommendation, however, though I hope it helps.

The most commonly recommended router on this forum is the Netgear DG834G

http://www.netgear.co.uk/wireless_adslrouter_dg834g.php

It is simple to set up and very easy to use. If you do a search on this forum you will see the many recommendations for this product.

Have also heard good things about the Thomson Speedtouch 585v6.

I'm going to have to be fair here and say that I don't know about the wireless routers - it would be sheer insanity to have these work that way, but I've never used one so can't confirm. It was a wireless access point that I tried to configure (you can't even pick it up on the network without the application on the driver CD).
