There are 2 variants of this router - a wired and wireless. I would recommend the DG834 (or DG834G if going wireless). Lots of people swear by the DG834/G and there's lots of help available here if you need to set it up.

Netgear no longer support the DG834GT, and is has proprietry wireless.

I cant really comment about the DG834PN - but I would stay clear as the wireless on it isn't even ratified.

Can anyone say what the different prefixes and suffixes mean. I have noticed they do a WGT834 and a DG834. Had not picked up on the GT and PN suffixes. I was thinking of using the WGT834 which has the USB port for network storage. I do not think the DG834 has the USB port but I could be mistaken. Cheers, Bob

The DG834 is a wired ethernet 4 port modem/router. No USB port.

See >>link<< and >>link<< for different prefixes and versions.

Hi, noddy question time. I am thinking about getting a wireless router (probabley the D384) in preparation for an impending house move as there is no phone socket where I intend to setup the PC. The question is can you configure the router wirelessly?

not a noddy question at all, but not sure what a D384 is.
However if you mean a Netgear wireless router or modem/router, DG834s etc. can indeed be setup wirelessly.
However, it's usually recommended to do all the initial setup while wired (including setting up the wireless side).

Thanks for the reply, I did actually mean the D834 but I can't type Cheesy . Sounds good on the setup so I should be investing in one of these shortly, probly a bit nearer to pay day
