Wireless Network

Hi there,

I have two WiFi enabled PCs and i am trying to set-up a wireless network.

Do i need a router or can a network be setup without one?

Thanks

If you only want to join the 2 up wirelessly and dont want to share internet access then no, you do not need a wireless access point / wireless router. Cant remember how to do it in Windows but you need to set both PC's up for "Ad-Hoc mode" and setting the same wireless parameters for both.

You have to set up both wireless cards in Ad-Hoc Mode so they detect each other. You would then need to set up File & Printer sharing on one of the machines.

You can set up Internet Connection Sharing depending on the modem used, but to be honest it can be fairly complicated.
