Wi-fi Noob Question

Hi

Im a noob so be gentle Smiley

Just installed my DG834G Which was a breeze! I have 2 PC's connected one by wire, one wireless.

My question is about the numbers of connections. I can clearly see that I could wire 4 PCs to the unit (not that I intend to) from the number of ports on the backof the unit, but what is the story with wireless links?

I couldnt see any mention of the max number, is there one or is it just governed by wireless bandwidth?

Cheers

Peter

Wi-fi Noob Question

I think the maximum number of wireless clients is 128, but they will all be sharing the same bandwidth, so this is only a theoretical figure. In practice it will be lower due to network speed and traffic from each client - how much lower is anyone's guess! Smiley

Wi-fi Noob Question

On the medical systems I install we have a basic rule of 10 Mobile Units to one access point.

Which would be a good rule of thumb, but it really depends on the utilisation.

Dont forget, I know this is slightly off-topic, but you can wire up a hub or a switch to the router to allow more wired connections.
