I've just signed up with the wireless option and get a Speedtouch 585 but see in the Plusnet Shop they sell Netgear but not Speedtouch!

Is the Speedtouch 585 an ok piece of kit?

I have just got the Netgear DG834Gv2 as has a friend, we are both having no end of trouble with it - keeps dropping connection. PlusNet are a pain to reach on the phone, their support wizard doesnt fit the problem or my questions and NetGear are telling me to speak to my ISP. Go Figure !

I am a NetGear fan, but in this instance, would recommend people shy away from this model - its not worth the pain - just read the NetGear user forums!.

Hi there,

Welcome to the forums, both of you.

Generally, the DG834G is one of the most reliable routers in the UK and certainly one of the most popular.

Unlike its newer cousin, the DG834GT, which features heavily on the Netgear forums.

Disconnects involving the DG834G are generally down to local issues or incorrect setup or config.

Have a look through some of the ADSL Tutorials for diagnostics before raising to Plus Net.
