Netgear DG834G v3

I have this router modem but somehow its lost all reference to wireless. If I go into the router dashboard on screen the wireless tab has gone.
I did disable wireless as I didn't need it at the time.
Now I do, I dont have the option to switch it on. I have rebooted and gone back to factory settings but no joy.

Please could someone here help out I have always had solutions from the experts here.

Try the following link;

http://router/setup.cgi?next_file=wire_wpa.htm

Where "router" is the ip address of your router.

ie;
http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?next_file=wire_wpa.htm

Could you have updated the firmware with a non wireless version?

Netgear DG834G v3

Thank you. First link doesn't work for me. The second gives me the panel I used to have before it went faulty but when I click on wireless the light still doesn't come on. Perhaps its the harware inside?

The dashboard says the router is a dg834 and I thought I had updated with the non wireless patch but apprently not according to the netgear website.

Anything else I could try before I send it back to ebuyer.

Thanks

The DG834 is the wired only version of the DG834G- try updating the firmware with the latest wireless firmware and trying again.

Have updated with the new firmware and it is showing on the router front page but it still says dg834 without the wireless tab.

Could I have made adjustments somewhere else that has disable wireless? I can't think I have though?

Netgear DG834G v3

I wonder if the DG834 and DG834G identical, except that the DG834G has a wireless card installed. And run the same firmware which decides which model it is by checking for the presence of the wireless card during boot up.

It could be either that the wireless card in your has failed, or possible become dislodged.

If it is out of warranty and you know the sharp end of a screw driver from the blunt, then it may be worth a quick look inside.

See pictures of the inside of a DG834;

That confirm the hardware at least is the same.

Its still under guarantee so will send it back. I think it’s the wireless hardware inside that’s failed.

Thanks for all your support again
