Linksys WAG54GS drops Internet connections frequently

Hi guys
My recently purchased WAG54GS keeps dropping the internet connection. Plusnet have checked the line and report that there is no fault. I have had a replacement from the suppluier and this still occurs. This problem is very intermitent. Sometimes AM and PM I can be on the net for maybe a couple of hours without disconnection and other times, Like tonight it has disconnected twice in 20 minutes.
Has anyone else had this sort of issue?
Also Linksys want to send me some new firmware but require to know whether plusnet use Annex A or Annex B. Support, apparently, are unable to supply this information which i find strange as Linksys state they will know. Does anyone out there know what Annex is used?
Many thanks
Clive

Annex A is one answer.

try this page on your router

http://10.0.0.2/ADSLCStatus.htm

replace the 10.0.0.2 with the ip of your router and its case sensitive. It works on most models so it should work on yours.

It will show you the stats which you cant normally see. Keep the page open and refresh it and watch the snr ratio. Look to see if its stable or if it drops down. If it gets below 6 its likely it will drop the connection. If its this causing it you need to work out why the line gets noisy. It could be external like water in the green box or it could be next door going on the net or something like a microwave, tv, dec phone or even a street light.

Thanks for the info.
That URL has just returned a white page so I don't know if there is an alternative for this type of router.

start telnet: Open a cmd window start run type cmd then type
telnet 192.168.1.1

type in command:

Thanks for the info
this gives me a SNR for down of 14.3 and a SNR for UP of 22
Is this right?
Cheers

Yes thats right the snr is influenced by the speed so the faster you go the lower it goes. It should be reasonable stable but will go up and down slightly or may alter at certain times but normally when it get to 6 or below it drop the line on most routers. Keep you eye on it and its often good to make a graph so you can see if its triggered by time or weather.
