How best to share internet connection?

I currently use a Zoom dsl usb modem to connect a stand alone desktop to the internet. I now need to share this connection with a laptop and know very little about this stuff. From what I can gather, I need either a wireless router to use with my existing modem, or a wireless router with a built in modem. Which is the best option? Which is the best value kit to purchase. Is this easy to setup? Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

Dave

A wireless 4 port router can be had for about £55
You can also get a wirless access point that will plug into a LAN socket for about £35.

As you probably dont have a LAN socket from the USB modem then your best option would be to go for the wireless Modem/router.
This will also give you the additional options of connecting other things to it via the 4 LAN ports. Other PCs or even an X Box

They are easy enough to set up and most also have built in firewalls.

I have used both D-link and Belkin with good results form both.

Could not the access point be plugged directly into the Zoom modem? This modem has a router and DHCP. May need to use a crossover cable.
