windows update on 12th possible Bsod cause- Edit Not a cause

Did an update last night and after a few hours of my pc running today I started to get repeated Bsods, rule of thumb last installed first to go if problems.  So if you have autoupdates or if you let the updates from the 12th install might be time to uninstall them, I have and checking to see if I get more.

Re: windows update on 12th possible Bsod cause

My computer here has wanting to reboot to complete updates since about dinner time (it can wait till I go, too many windows open!), so I hope this doesn't cause any problems when I do..
What version of Windows are you using? - If there is a problem it might not apply to all versions.

Re: windows update on 12th possible Bsod cause

After the 12th update on reboot I was away from the computer and when I came back it reported one failed restart and had fixed itself.
Also the next time I booted Kaspersky reported a suspected keylogger

which I allowed to continue as I assumed it was a false alarm
No problems since - also running Vista 64 bit

Re: windows update on 12th possible Bsod cause

It's been about 4hrs since i uninstalled them and not had a Bsod since, so will see what happens in next day or so and see if MS does a quick fix

Re: windows update on 12th possible Bsod cause

My machine seems fine, as does my home machine which also updated and restarted last night.
I'll wait a bit longer though before I let the update push out across the LAN.

I left my pc running all night and nothing happened.  So I will reinstall those updates last thing tonight and see if it crashes and if so then bitch at MS in the morning

The details of what it says on the BSOD may give clues as to the cause.

It's windows way of nagging you to take some backups. Cheesy

I updated over the weekend (Home Premium Vista 64bit) and I've had no issues at all.
as ReedRichards says, the BSOD error message should provide clues as to the problem.
