Apple could benefit anew if PC users faced with switching operating systems go for Macintosh machines instead of Windows 7, according to analysts.

Re: windows 7

Maybe they just use the same analysts each time...
I've just ordered 2 copies of Windows 7 - Ultimate for my main PC, and Home Premium for my Macbook. Then I just need to work out what to do with my copy of Vista - whether I want to install it as a VM or something Cheesy

Re: windows 7

Can a copy of Windows 7 be installed on more than one PC?

Sell it - that's what I did with my copy; got a bit more for it than I paid for Windows 7 in fact.

Is that cheaper than buying 2 copies?

Re: windows 7

On Microsoft's site the upgrade version of W7 Pro is $100 cheaper than the full version http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/shop
On Amazon for example the full version is roughly £2 cheaper than the upgrade version.

Re: windows 7

Virgin Install using the Upgrade version seems to work the same as on Vista - install but don't add a product key then reinstall over it - but there are a couple of other options as well

Using Windows 7 (upgrade) since Saturday and it cost me £58.99.Seems faster and more stable than 'Vista' but it's early days yet.

Well, it's a lot better than Vista, but it's still only really Vista SP3  Roll_eyes

If Apple can charge for an SP (Snow Leopard) MS should be allowed to also!  Especially as the Mac SP removes functionality rather than adds lots to it  Crazy

Re: windows 7

I'm looking forward to the new version of Ubuntu, due on Thursday/Friday - cost £0-00.
I shall upgrade it over the internet and it will work.
It will require a maximum of one reboot. Grin
