When I use automatic update after a short time my system becomes scrambled and I have to revert to my backed up system. Am I the only one or is this happening to anyone else? from Rabbit. 07:10:2010

Welcome to the forum,
Bit more information would be good, What do you mean scrambled? Do you mean Scrambled like an egg?

Not sure what you mean by 'scrambled' either but I have recently had problems with Vista updates - see HERE.
Changed automatic updates to notify and select, downloaded one at a time until problem one was caught, then just hid it so that I would not inadvertently download it again. Have left the laptop on the notify option.

That looks like a hardware problem such as bad memory.
I would run the Windows Memory Diagnostic for a start. -

I think a faulty hard drive is more likely.
