win 7 to win 10 question

Ive just formatted a pc and installed windows 7, i plan on upgrading this to windows 10. what ive done for the moment is install drivers for mobo and gfx to windows 7. Now windows update is showing loads of updates for windows 7, normally i would install them and have everything upto date.
So my question do i ignore those updates and try to download windows 10 or do i update windows 7 first ?

I reckon you might need to totally update windows 7 first but I could be wrong but Microsoft probably wants windows 10 on devices that are already up to date. You might wait till someone with more knowledge comes along to help you.

As it's a new install then why not just try it. If it fails you can just start over!

St3 , i formatted mine and install win 10 with the MS media creation kit from USB

@ned im at me mums and not for very long if it was on my pc id have all the time in the world to sort it.
@rongtw .. ive installed win 7 updates now, think ill hold off until parents get fibre installed next week then it be easy to download everything.  Having there connection upgraded from 1 meg adsl to 40 meg fttp, i think u have fttp dont you ? mine at home is fttc but still not bad speeds

The question really amounts to:
"Are there any updates to Windows 7 that will make the Windows 10 update run more smoothly?"
AFAIK the answer is no.

You will of course need Win 7 SP1 for the upgrade to work

What about those updates that were specifically released to make the upgrading to a new version of Windows easier? I'm sure there were some. Like KB 2952664
Edit: Or at least that's the stated description of the update. But it may have been one of those updates that breaks people's computers, or was claimed to be evil and snoops on you.

You mean as per http://www.infoworld.com/article/2911609/operating-systems/kb-2952664-compatibility-update-for-win7-... ejs?  However if you believe Microsoft, this is one of a couple of such updates that do ease the installation of Windows 10 so my initial reply was wrong.

ive downloaded all the win 7 updates and ill upgrade to win 10 next week when ive the time, atleast i know all drivers for the moment are woring currectly because theres still some drivers out there for win10 that aint been udated yet, as ive found with my own pc.
