what is WMM?

The D-Link DSL-2640B, which I've just got from PN has a setting for WMM (Wi-fi Multimedia setting)  I was just wondering what it was, what it does, and is it worth enabling it?  It's on the QoS page of the set up.

Re: what is WMM?

This is speculation on my part but…
I think WMM provides quality of service support so that (e.g.) VoIP can be prioritised over non-interactive traffic. Since that function is already provided by PN's traffic management policies it doesn't seem to me that doing it again in the router will add value.
I'm not sure if it works in the outbound direction too; if it does perhaps there are situations where it would help (online backups or gaming?) but I suspect most of us wouldn't notice any improvement through using it.

Re: what is WMM?

Thanks Samuria.  I still don't think I'll use it. Everything seems ok so far.
