vlc and Debian etch

Hi.
Anyone running etch having problems with vlc and videos? vlc always crashes when I try to view a video, doesn't seem to matter what the format is and the logs don't show any errors.
Cheers

Re: vlc and Debian etch

I use VLC on OS X and don't have any problems at all. My Debian install doesn't have X so I can't test it, tried the VLC forum?

Re: vlc and Debian etch

Hi Dave.
Didn't find the answer on the vlc board but did stumble across the cause of the problem. All it needed was to delete the ~jon/.vlc directory and restart vlc. Seems it didn't like the stuff left over from the earlier version from the Sarge install.
Cheers

Re: vlc and Debian etch

Might be worth notifying the package maintainer if they don't already know.

There's a bugs link at the bottom of the page.
