vista compatible headsets

Can anyone advise on a cheap headset that is vista compatible with either messenger or skype ? Some suppliers say their headsets are comp but in forums i've visited others say they are not and you have to get an adapter Any help would be appreciated

Re: vista compatible headsets

I suppose it depends on how accessible your sound output ports are and what else you might want to plug in to them. If (like me) you have speakers and subwoofer already attached to your PC you might want to use a USB headset.
I have to say my solution, that some might see as overkill was to purchase a USB external sound card. I run my ‘music / game’ speakers from the PC back port and plug a regular headset into the USB external soundcard along with anything else that needs a sound output or input.

I guess I am wierd Roll_eyes I like to have the option of them both running and not have one turn of the other. So for example you could have Music / TV,  VOIP / game SFX at the same time. S I find the USB sound card great as a second source.
