Re: tvcatchup.com desktop player released

Looks to me like it's getting identified as Gold traffic which is good.

Re: tvcatchup.com desktop player released

What quality does this website broadcast at?
I'm loathe to load any of the newer Adobe software on my PC - especially AIR.
Currently, I live in a DRM free zone - and I can still download BBC content.
I could intercept streaming content and feed it into a download file (losing DRM in the process).
But if it isn't watchable full screen, there isn't much point.
Currently, I get standard definition downloads of 480 x 272,  25 frames per second using the H.264 / AVC codec.
This has only a few artefacts present.

they stream at just under 800kbps. due to the nature of it being live they are depdent on how much bandwidth each channel has on the freeview mux.
full screen on my pc monitor is pretty gd quality havent tried it on my 32" lcd yet tho

Re: tvcatchup.com desktop player released

Sounds a bit lightweight - I usually download before playback to avoid internet glitches.

From 750Kbps and up, Windows Media 9, 10, Flash, Real, MPEG4, H.264, MPEG1 streaming is recommended.
The network should either have high-speed DSL lines, cable modems, or IP Intranet. MPEG contents are sent on Transport stream over IP. Typical picture quality is as follows:
    * At 500Kbps, one should get S-VHS quality for most CODECs at 640x480, 30fps. Playback with Windows media at 4x resolution.
    * From 750Kbps and up, MPEG1 transport stream can deliver VHS quality, best used for set top box.
    * From 1Mbps onwards, Windows Media can deliver 720x480 DVD like quality.
    * From 2Mbps onwards, MPEG2 can deliver 720x480 DVD like quality, playable on set top boxes.
