Re: systemerrorfixer

Thanks guys.  I'm backing up his music and pictures via my network connection at the moment, (I don't have a spare memory stick big enough Roll_eyes ) and tomorrow, I'll do a restore point and then try what you suggest.
Wish me luck.  I'll let you know the outcome.

Re: systemerrorfixer

Hi again.  Oddly, if I run HiJack this in safe mode, those lines aren't present.
I'll try the other link this evening.

Re: systemerrorfixer

As they are only 'run' processes, you will probably be ok in normal mode to get rid, its usually only BHOs which require safe mode.
Another thing to do is just the delete of the dll's as they can't run if they are not there!

Re: systemerrorfixer

Now this is weird  Cheesy
Both of those lines have gone, and so have the dlls, and I didn't delete them, but the pop-ups seem to have stopped (famous last words!)
He still doesn't automatically go into some programmes as an administrator, (notably Spybot, and HiJack This) but at least we now know that he can right click on the icon and run the programme as an administrator anyway, so that's a help.
Thanks for all the help people.
