start up program problem vista

when windows messenger is disabled from starting up in defender if i run messenger the next time i start up computer it automatically starts up if i dont run messenger after i hav disabled it in defender it dosent start up.
Why does runing messenger override defenders settings of not to start up messengerHuhHuh

Messenger, like a lot of other apps, reinstalls the start-up entry for itself when you run it. When you disable it in Defender, I think it just removes/disables the start-up entry for it so it does not run on the next reboot.

i think i might move over to yahoo that seems to listen when u tell it not to do things.
sure bill gates will sort that out if he buys it thoe lol

You could give something like Trillian a try - then you could have msn and yahoo (and aim, icq, jabber, rendezvous and irc) all in one application.
