Re: router recommendations

I have the billion 7800dx, some people use the all in one version 8800nl
but neither of them are ac wifi, although the 7800dx supports up to 600mbps 5gz wifi and gigabit lan/wan speeds
don't know the exact details of the 8800nl
why do you want ac wifi? according to Wikipedia its limited to 4 clients per AP, not to mention its so new that the majority of devices listed as "ac" wont actually be true AC for another 6 months at the retail end just as the rash of supposed "n" devices weren't really up to the finalised standard either ....
just because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you

Re: router recommendations

Cheap option:-
Get a Gigabit switch and use one port into your router.
The rest will operate at 80Mb on the internet, or 1Gb locally.

Re: router recommendations

The only thing missing is ac wifi and that, for "future proofing", could be considered an option rather than a requirement under the current development status. If you mean a modem/router combination unit (as implied by you choice of devices referenced), then it does fail to meet your (unspecified) requirement.

Re: router recommendations

i think the first line of the opening post was pretty clear what i was looking for
"i'm looking for a new router - for use on ADSL but can also be used withFTTC."
so to clarify for those that seem to be a bit hazy on this.
i am looking for a NEW ROUTER
i want it to have AC wifi and gigabit ports.

Re: router recommendations

Go to Amazon & have a look at this one, Billion BiPAC 8800AXL. But if that's right don't buy it from them because you can usually find it cheaper by trying:
