router query

If I have a router that provides an option of wired or wireless and I go down the path of a wired setup, am I right in thinking that when in use no signal is being transmitted from the router ariel.
For those people clued up about these things this will sound like a daft question so I really seeking reassurance that by using the wired option nothing is be transmitted from the router that could be picked up by someone else.
Thanks

Re: router query

it is possible on some routers to turn of the WiFi, but not normally it is transmitting, it wouldnt hurt to turn on WPA at the router, when you are using wired it wont affect you, just the snoopers

Re: router query

If you can tell us which router you have we can give more specific advice on making it secure or turning off the wireless altogether

Re: router query

Then you can disable it.
I don't have a v7 but this is from the v6 manual so should be very similar

Re: router query

I think the procedure for disabling wireless on the TG585v7 is as follows:
login to the router
click Home Network
click Interfaces
click WLAN in the body of the page
click Configure at top right
Untick the Interface Enabled check box
click the Apply button at the bottom of the page
