random photo slideshow

I've scanned in lots of old photos to my PC and so have a collection of family snaps going back over 20 years now. THey are organised in My Pictures in a number of sub folders.
I manage these using Picasa and have Picasa manage my screensaver too. Its great to have a random slideshow of my photos in the screen saver but I havent been able to easily find a programme I can launch to view a random slideshow. I have achieved the result by  "testing"  the  picasa screensaver but its annoying that it either times out or the mouse grts knocked.
Is there something safe realiable and free that I could install that will allow me to have a random slideshow from files in subfolders in my pics? Ive tried a few offerings but none really fit the bill ( either they dont support sub folders, or they don't do random)
Thanks

Re: random photo slideshow

There's a Linux screen-saver that fetches "random" images from the web, together with your own images.
It overlays small pictures into a kind of mosaic.
I suspect it uses your browsing history - but it might not.

Re: random photo slideshow

yes it has a bit of a learning curve, it has so many good features.  Been using it for a long time and still finding good things.
Have you found the thumbnail view of folders?  hit T in the irfanview
