phone line not active

Hi i just tried to use my phone and dont have any dialing tone ? contacted bt who installes the line who basically said its not there problem ? am i the only one or are other people out there experiencing the same problem

For phone line faults you need to contact whoever you pay line rental to. Is that BT for your line?
