Have tried to access e-bay and amazon but just get the message... Page not found.
I Have no problem accessing any other sites and both the above have been ok previous sessions.
Can't believe 2 sites are down.
Have tried accessing them both via search engines and typing in the address but still the same message.
Am using FF4 on one computer and FF3.6 on a second computer but get the same result.
Firewall is not blocking anything.......... any ideas ?

Did you try is it down for everyone or just me?
I've just accessed them both via my bookmarks and no problem. They're not cached BTW. Is it worth clearing all the cookies and temp files and trying again? If you were using bookmarks maybe worth trying with a new search or typing direct into the url bar.
Otherwise can't think what's wrong, but hopefully somebody will know.

Poppy,
Thanks, I have already tried these things but am getting nowhere.
Just can't understand how some of these main sites are showing page not found yet other sites such as Plusnet and others no problem.
Have run a virus checker but it shows nothing is infected.
Just hope someone can come up with some ideas, as I am not sure where to start with this.
Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at www.amazon.com.
* Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
www.example.com
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Oldjim,
Have checked with antimalwarebytes and nothing unusual is reported.
However you may be on the correct path about the DNS page
On Plusnet no problem and the page number is showing as 212.159.8.110 but
enter amazon and the page number appears for a few seconds as 74.125.230.116 but then disappears and when the Page not found is displayed, DNS Flusher appears where the page number normally is.
I Do use Clear cloud but even though I turn it off the problem persists.
I Would be grateful for any further comment(s) following the above info
Thanks

Oldjim,
Thanks for getting back to me on this.
The situation is even more puzzling now. When I came on this morning I had no problem accessing any of these sites, in short the problem seems to have rectified itself.
However the Google 8.8.8.8 you quote is really useful as I will go down that path of using Google public DNS if this problem occurs again.
