networking PC and Mac laptops

Tell me please - simply (no jargon)  Roll_eyes if it is possible to network my partner's PC (Windows XP) laptop and my Mac OSX laptop with a Direct Connection (PC to PC) ?  Huh  We are fed up taking turns to surf.

Re: networking PC and Mac laptops

What ADSL modem/router have you got?
Are you connected to the ADSL modem/router via USB or Ethernet?
If Ethernet, get a cheap 4 or 8 port switch/hub and put it between the modem/router and you PC & Mac then connect each to the hub with an Ethernet cable.
If USB, get a new 4 port router - they are very cheap at DSL Depot.

A router is the way to go but to answer your question you could connect with a cross over cable

You would need to us TCP/IP and maybe if it's still alive AppleTalk protocols.
