netgear wg111v2

Have started with plusnet today, plusnet router connected to desktop with ethernet cable, all fine and working, laptop connected wireless, all fine and working,(both vista)  desktop upstairs (xp) with a netgear wg111 usb, put in the settings as i think they should be, eg WPA-PSK,  when i click on apply it says connected to internet but when i open IE or firefox it cannot display webpages . The netgear usb was set up to recieve talktalk but i deleted that, do i need to change some other settings such as ip.  Im not very good at technology so if anyone can help me can you explain to make it easy for me Cry

Re: netgear wg111v2

yep the one you have a connection to the router but no internet. the desktop xp machine.
yep if you would post the results we can see if there is anything that jumps out as to why this machine is having trouble.
as you can see from my ipconfig/all ive got a wg11v2 adapter which ive had running fine connected to a belkin enhanced wireless router before with no problems so it shouldnt be a problem.
have you tried installing the offical netgear drivers for the adapter instead of the talk talk supplyed ones?
it shouldnt be the cause of the problem but is worth a try http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/713

Re: netgear wg111v2

Hello there, I am now sorted, I tried the suggestion of reinstaling the netgear, went through all the wizard steps and it worked, dont know why i didnt try that first, doh, dont know why my silly son couldnt tell me that, does IT as an option at school and been told he will get A* for his GCSE but cant help his mum and sister,
Thank you very much, i wonder if someone on here might be able to help with an msn download problem but i will have to post that somewhere else, once again thanks, i can get my laptop back now! Kiss

Re: netgear wg111v2

Hi there, glad to hear it's all working now. I can't promise that we'll definitely come up with a fix for the MSN download problem but if you let us know what's happening we'll certainly have a go.
Hope that helps,
