Re: is pn firewall necessary.???

The PN "Firewall" is a rather grand name.
It just blocks traffic on a few incoming ports - it isn't a real firewall.
If your PC is listening to these ports, then you have a problem.

Traffic that bounces off Comodo will count against your usage - I'm not sure if traffic rejected by the Plusnet firewall will be counted.
My gut reaction is that if having the Plusnet firewall on doesn't cause you any problems, leave it on.

Re: is pn firewall necessary.???

Maybe I was lazy and could'nt be bothered to configure it, but I wanted to accept all kinds of incoming ports through to my router so that I can access my own equipment on the otherside.
As most modem/routers have quite a bit of flexibility in configuring forwarding ports etc, then it seemed easier to do the configuration in one place, i.e my own router.
As to usage, I not really found a great deal of traffic trying to hack in.

So far you've been lucky then. There are several configurations of the firewall that would suit most users. I would certainly recommend that the average user has it ON.
