iplayer seems to eat my bandwidth at an alarming rate

is it just me or does watching SD streams from iplayer seem to eat up bandwidth at a strangely high rate? is it less bandwidth to download them through iplayer than it is to stream them? seems like i used almost 2gig tonight just watching a couple of shows....if the future of TV is online viewing i dont see 120gig usage being much use if shows eat through the usage at this rate.  Undecided

Re: iplayer seems to eat my bandwidth at an alarming rate

Hi bez,
It has to be said that Streaming can eat up your usage at quite a rapid rate. A lot of our customers set BBC iPlayer to start downloading programs they want to watch after midnight, since it is unlimited at this time. If you take this route it wont have any impact on your monthly allowance.
Hope this helps somewhat Smiley

I don't think the streaming usage is much different to download for iPlayer desktop - up to 650Mb per hour.
