iPod Touch no longer recognised

Since downloading the latest iTunes software update I have been unable to synch my iPod Touch because it is no longer recognised by my PC. No devices are listed in the LH pane of iTunes. I've gone through the 'help' tips and have changed the USB cable, all without any success. Has anyone else encountered anything similar or know how I rectify the situation please?

I haven’t come across this problem myself but hopefully the information in the link may be useful to you. ‘iPod Touch Troubleshooting Assistant’ under Resolution might help
