iMac G3 setup to net?

Hi, I have an old iMac g3 that I would like to connect to the net.  Mac tells me the pc IS connected but that's it. nothing further happens.  So what am I doing wrong.  ??  Help anyone

if you open terminal and type:
traceroute www.plus.net
what do you get?

What's it saying in System Preferences->Network ?
