He wasn't talking about real lasers was he...
Besides.. we all know that a STRONG enough light can be harmful - thats how solar power stations work that use an array of mirrors focussed on a central tower work. There was one designed that also works as a laser using the energy from the sun but i've never managed to find it online but saw a programme about it once.
But my point it this... your living room light bulb still isn't as dangerous as wifi.

I broke one once and got a shock off it when I went to remove it (yeah, forgot to turn it off), had I been up a ladder I could have fallen off and split my head open on something, so they can be more dangerous than wifi routers...

The problem here is that the intensity if the wifi radiation will follow an inverse square law with distance from the transmitter.  So if you are worried about this, the last thing you should do is put your hand (or any other body part) close to the router - which you would have to do to switch it off or turn-off the wifi.

Richards is right... what you really need is a computer (such as a pi) hooked up via a short ethernet cable with a little program that will log in via http and disable / enable your wifi as at specified times.
Don't ask me how, I know very little about linux. If it was a windows box (Pi size) I could do it without hassle but not using linux.

Or, you could just have your router scheduled to turn the wifi off, as most decent routers have a built in scheduling system that can do such things...

Or you could just log into it from any of your connected devices and turn it off with the relevant command. You would of course have to log in with an ethernet connected device to turn it on - or go and press the button for the required duration and then run

Or you could plug your router into a timeswitch.
Beware the EM radiation from timeswitches though.

Which would be peanuts compared to a radio transmitter - which wifi uses.
Ridicule it all you want but how many times have people laughed at dangers they cannot see only to be had by it later?
