failure configuring windows updates

I"m trying to install all my windows updates but when my laptop resrtarts it gets to 97% configuring windows updates then it changes to "failure configuring windows updates, reverting changes...". How can I get around this problem and install all my windows updates?

Try installing updates on at a time,there may be just one that is a problem.

I agree with anniesboy to try one at a time.
I had a similar issue a couple of years ago (albeit with W7 pro). When I did each update on its own - rebooting when required - all updates completed without further problem.

I also agree with doing only a few at a time, I had nothing but problems trying to install them all at once.
What worked best for me was to serch for the updates then in the list i clicked the SIZE tab so the biggest files were at the top of the list, I then installed the biggest update first followed by the next few big updates.
After i did that i then chose around 10 files at a time to install and it all worked out good.

I disabled all the start up applications and kept the microsoft applications running then when I restarted my laptop it configured 100%, PEFECTO!
