Re: email

Sounds a bit odd.  Clearly if you know you've got an email, then you're using an email client (such as Thunderbird or Outlook) Is it the email you can't open, or a file attached to it?

Re: email

OK - thought so.  Can you post the letters following the dot  (usually 3 or 4 letters)
Just a thought, it's not docx is it?

Re: email

OK
It's a Word 2003 file.  If you're using an earlier version of Word, it won't open it, but Microsoft has a free adapter that you can download for your version of Word  You can find instructions here.
Alternatively tell your Insurance company that you don't have Word 2003, can they resend it in another format.  I'm surprised they didn't think about that.

Re: email

@hulls,
May I correct you? .docx files are Word 2007 or Word 2010 files, not Word 2003. The company really ought to send documents in a more compact, universal form; .pdf, for instance.

Re: email

It's not Word 2003 it's Word 2007 and Word 2003 won't open it without a big patch http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/open-a-word-2007-document-in-an-earlier-version-of-word-...
The alternative is Open Office which handles all the Word versions http://www.openoffice.org/

Re: email

Sorry for the mistake - of course you're right.  I got a bit confused (I use 2003 at work and 2007 at home)  Call it senility  Roll_eyes

Re: email

They probably meant to save/convert it to a .pdf file and neglected to do so. This happened to me once.
