Hi ,
My wife has a dial up connection which is used for Ebay transactions .Normally emails to and from this email provider happened through my plusnet ADSL connection without the need for the dial up to occur,to the extent that the pci modem was actually removed from the PC .After a blue screen episode (yes I know) the connection has dropped and the system is looking for the non existant modem. How do I tweek the outlook express (proxy ?? ) settings to reinstate the link.

Hi Wilt,
You need to tell Outlook Express to never dial a connection.
If you click on:
- Tools
- Accounts
- Click on the account she uses, then click on properties
- Connection
- Deselect the "always connect to this account using" tick box
- Hit apply
- Hit ok
Should do the job.

Thanks, James
I thought I'd tried all that but on your advice I went through it all again and I believe its working cos' an email I sent to a seller with a "send a copy to your email address" command did indeed turn up
. so Fingers Crossed !

One corollary of managing to get the email dial up connection working again appears to be that pictures no longer open in ouitlook express.I have tried all the obvious setting under tools but still no pics.
