YouTube Downloader?

Can anyone suggest a good YouTube downloader for videos?

On Firefox i use this https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-video-and-audio-dow/?src=api but i dont know if it will work with    browser

www.dvdvideosoft.com ;       has loads of stuff besides vid downloader , youtube to mp3 etc, cell phone converters

keepvid.com is quick and easy.. but it does require you to run a java app.

Followed your adice and now I have Twitter & Facebook icons on my homepage.
How do I get rid of them?

uninstalled wajam or something like it and the icons have gone.

I've often thought of writing a program to download videos for off-line viewing, but I don't know what's involved in doing such a thing. My idea was to be able to drag a video's URL on to my app it would then go to the site and save the file (stream) to disk, there would be no viewing screen on it or anything fancy like that, just a drag and drop operation.
