Re: XP - UBUNTU

Some light reading
http://www.howtoforge.com/howtos/linux/ubuntu
http://ubuntuforums.org/
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GraphicalInstall
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/partitioning
In this forum there are some good threads about people just starting out on linux. They discuss other distros as well as Ubuntu. It would be useful for you to go back and read through them.
I have ubuntu dual booting with XP, which works for me
If you have  spare box you could just install Ubuntu on it.
The Ubuntu forums are great, register and ask questions there.
I would suggest getting Ubuntu installed and have a play with it.
Then when you have questions just  ask . There are also lots of very knowledgeable and helpful people on here

Re: XP - UBUNTU

I would also recommend either Linux Mint (an Ubuntu derivative with codecs etc already installed,I use it on my main pc) or pclinuxos they use a system XP like to make the transfer easier.
Latest Linux mag has it on the cover (or will by end of week,I just subscriber issue a few days ago)
