XP Start Up

Why are there different forms of Window XP start up.?
Mine is just click on Log In
My  sister has to put in a password which has to be changed every month
A freind's just goes straight into the main screen

It depends on how the User Accounts in Control Panel are configured.
With yours I presume you don't enter a password so there is no password set on your user account.
With your sister's account a password has been set and it has been set to expire monthly requiring a new one to be created.
Setting a strong password on your user account is strongly recommended especially if more than one person uses the computer.
Setting a password life which forces a new password to be created tends to be more common in a business environment.

It also depends which edition you are using and what type of Networking applies, especially being part of a corporate domain.
