Word 2003 screen mucked up with watermark

When creating a word document with a watermark I keep getting bits of text transposed in the vicinity of the watermark as shown on this picture.
Is this likely to be a graphic driver problem or just something Word does

Re: Word 2003 screen mucked up with watermark

Don`t know. !  but how about creating the watermark document first, print that off, then create the text on a new blank doc, to print off on the pre-printed watermark paper?  (or is that where the problem is?)

Re: Word 2003 screen mucked up with watermark

The problem only shows up on the screen not in print.
The reason for the watermark is that is being circulated elecronically as recently an awkward so and so quoted the minutes which weren't approved but didn't say so.

OK... would the screen resolution settings be somewhere to look?

Re: Word 2003 screen mucked up with watermark

Hi,
When you say that you are distributing electronically, is that in Word format?
How about installing "PDFreDirect", and "print" your Word document (including Watermark) via that, so creating a PDF document that can still be distributed electronically, but will include the Watermark, and as a by-product, cannot be edited further (well, not without some effort, or as easily as a distributed Word document...!).
http://www.exp-systems.com/PDFreDirect/Downloads.htm?1
It's free and very stable...... Been using it for ages - for example, to "print off" (e.g to save electronic copies of) Webpages when completing forms or placing online orders - in fact, anywhere where I might, in the past, have printed a hard-copy for my records, I now create a PDF and simply save it on the PC..... (very green as well - saves ink and paper!)...

Do other people see the effect when they view it, or is it just you?

Re: Word 2003 screen mucked up with watermark

I am going to give up
I just tried viewing it on the other computer - guess what - no watermark at all. It is using Word 97.
That completely nullifies the effect of the watermark - so I will need to use pdf in future  Angry

Re: Word 2003 screen mucked up with watermark

Why not try using a text box in the header of the page. Edit the header and insert a text box. Type in whatever you want the "watermark" to say, Unapproved, or whatever. Set the font large and change the colour to a grey so that the main text of the document can be seen over it. Change the layout of the text box so that it "floats over text" and drag it into the middle of the page. Turn off the borders of the text box for the neatest effect. This type of watermark can be used for all versions of MS Word.

Re: Word 2003 screen mucked up with watermark

Good one - that does exactly what I want - thanks
Only difference is I created the text in Excel - rotated it to the angle required then copied it and pasted as a picture into the header in the template

Re: Word 2003 screen mucked up with watermark

Do you have watermarks turned on?  Page layout > Watermarks (I use 07 so got the ribbon, but that's where watermarks are for me)
/edit - nm, re-read, the text is messed up! another font maybe? Shocked
