Wireless Connection with Windows7

I can't get a wireless connection for my router with my new computer that uses Windows 7.The support guy was very patient but eventually ran out of ideas and said there were problems with the wirelesss routers and Windows 7. I hope this problem will be resolved soon

First i have heard re problems with routers and windows 7...  !
Can you provide us a little more detail i.e
Computer Make and Model
Router Make and Model
About the environment, how far is the router? 
Do you see it in the list of available wireless networks? 
Are you using windows to connect to the network, or a software client provided with your network card?
This should help us try and identify the problem.

More to the point how are you connecting to the router - PCI Wireless Card., USB wireless adapter, motherboard wireless and which model is the one which is relevant

• Connect your laptop to your router via an Ethernet cable.  You should have got one of these with your router.


• Check that your laptop will now connect to the Internet


• Click the little circle with the Windows symbol at the bottom left of the screen then type CMD into the box where it says 'Search programs and files' and then press enter.


• In the window with a blck background that opens type ipconfig then press enter.  Find the line that says Default Gateway (you might need to scroll up) and note down the number listed, including the position of the dots.


• Type this number into the address bar of your browser and press enter


• A small window will open asking your for your user name and password.  This depends on your make of router and whether you have changed the default values so I cannot help you with the answer.


• Once you've entered the correct values, navigate to the page that shows your wireless security settings and report back on what this says, also your wireless SSID
