Wireless Access Points

Quick question for anyone in the know, can i use a wireless access point to extend my wired network? (If that makes sense)
I assume standard usage for these types of devices is to plug them into a wired network and have wireless client connect to them, however, can I get an access point to connect to my router wirelessly and then plug a wired network device into it?
TIA

Re: Wireless Access Points

Ok, whilst looking for a diagram to help show my thinkning i think I have answered my own question. I think I would need to use the Access Point in 'Client' mode. See attached image, product it relates to is http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132431/show_product_reviews

Thats really cheap...
I was going to suggest something like this http://www.solwise.co.uk/3g-routers.htm , again using it in 'client mode'

Re: Wireless Access Points

I know - really cheap! I have a print server for my printer, but it is a fair few years old and therefore doesn't have wireless, but is stil in great working order. Thinking this is the cheapest way to get my printer wireless!
