I've just had to buy a new box which inevitably came with Win7 OEM pre-installed.

Plenty of suppliers offer "barebones" boxes without an OS.
(Even though I do have multiple Windows 7 systems, none of them came as OEM installs.)

I suppose Microsoft expect the dual booters to run Linux as a VM inside Windows, perhaps?  Tongue Tongue

Look at how long it took to turn the statistics that indicated the correlation into proving a causal link between smoking and lung cancer.  Cool
I wonder how long it will take to work out which way the cause/effect is between paranoia and Linux.  Grin

And just how do you lock down out on a server?
I would imagine Microsoft is a minority in the server market.

Re: Windows 8 OEM specs may block Linux booting

That is/was mostly in place in the server market anyway, when I used to build servers for a living, we used the HP ones and they supply an install cd that gives options of what they will support on the server - at the time M$ NT/2003/enterprise etc along with RH Linux.
You COULD still install ANY OS you wanted but finding drivers for the hardware was another matter. (e.g. PCI-64 cards with 6 nics on or multi controller scsi raid cards)
