Windows 7 updates

To the Windows enthusiastic enthusiasts!
Please could you give me some advice.
I run Windows 7 on my main hard drive, and also Linux on an external hard drive.
Several months ago my Windows 7 started to receive Windows 10 upgrades, as most other people's did. So, in order to stop it as I have no interest in Windows 10, I changed my "upgrading" from Automatic to Manual. I also uninstalled and hid KB3035583.
Since then, just to be on the safe side, I have not installed any of the monthly upgrades. I feel that I should install the Windows 7 upgrades, but I don't want to inadvertently install any Windows 10 ones.
So my question is, please, how can I make certain that I am only installing Windows 7 updates?

Go to the Windows Update Panel as normal. Select either the Important or Optional Tab on the Left and you will see the list of updates. On the right of the screen you'll see a "More information" link if you click on this it will tell you what the update will do. You can use this approach, as tedious as it, is to filter out the Windows 10 offerings.

Following what you both wrote, the 47 Security Updates are now installed. I will check the others during the next few days and then decided which to install.

Of late, the ones just listed as Win7 updates are almost always detailed as making Win7 more ready to accept the Win10 upgrade.
What I'm expecting at some point is all these unwanted updates to be hidden in a culmulative update. Makes patch Tuesday a lot longer now as I tend to check each non descriptive one.
Prior to the last patch Tuesday here are the one's to avoid:
The KB's to avoid:
KB2952664 for Windows 7 SP1 and KB2976978 for Windows 8.x.
KB2990214 for Windows 7 SPx and KB3044374 for Windows 8.1.
KB3050265 for Windows 7 SP1 and KB3050267 for Windows 8.1.
KB3065987 for Windows 7 SP1 and KB3065988 for Windows 8.1.
KB3075851 for Windows 7 SP1 and KB3075853 for Windows 8.1
KB3083324 for Windows 7 SP1 and KB3083325 for Windows 8.1.
KB3083710 for Windows 7 SP1 and KB3083711 for Windows 8.1.
KB3102810 for Windows 7 SP1 and KB3102812 for Windows 8.1.
KB3112343 for Windows 7 SP1 and KB3112336 for Windows 8.1.
KB3135445 for Windows 7 SP1 and KB3135449 for Windows 8.1.
While the others are intended for both Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.x, namely:
KB2999226, KB3035583, KB3046480 and KB3068708 (which replaces KB3022345), KB3075249, KB3080149 and KB3123862
And there is, in addition, KB2977759, KB3021917 and KB3081954, just for Windows 7 SPx.

When you've looked at an update and decided you don't want it hide it. It won't then appear when you do future checks for updates.

Thank you both very much for the additional information.
It looks as though I have a lot of work in front of me sorting all the updates out, but it's a great help that all the security ones are installed.

Over the last few days Microsoft have upgraded the dreaded kb3035583 to an important update,  no longer optional, and they have pre-ticked it.
= check before you click and make sure you don't have auto update set.
The vigour that they are putting into this must mean there is something in it for them. My guess is all updates will need a subscription before too long whereas Win7 is supported with security updates, free of charge, till 2020.

Yes, I spotted that one - crofty sads!  Good thing I never let Windows - or anything else - automatically update.

Thank you for the information about KB3035583 now being classed as an "important upgrade".
I'll watch out for it.

If the patch Tuesday blurb just says it's a Win7 update then check it out via the 'more info' link. 9 times out of 10 Win10 will be mentioned in the detail.
That pretty much leaves you with the ones that have 'security' in the description.
The way they are trying to con us into upgrading/downgrading to Win10 makes me very suspicious that there has to be something in it for them. My best guess at the moment is a not too distant subscription requirement to obtain any Win10 upgrades or updates.

The March updates for WIndows 7 have sneaked in another Windows 10 upgrade patch; as well as the well-known KB3035583 and KB3123862, KB2952664 ("Compatibility update for upgrading Windows 7") now shows up as 'Important' and pre-checked. I de-selected and hid all of these to prevent them recurring; but it seems that if you do not wish to install Windows 10, you now have to check the purpose of every non-security update offered to Windows 7. Downright unethical of MS if you ask me.

Yeah! but what does it actually do
Just imagine if the uprate was designed to make it like W10 and you can't hide updates
