Personally I prefer (and use) the "old" 2009 version, though you may not be given that option and have to use 2011.
I think the 2009 version is still available for XP users, though whether you can install it on W7 now I don't know.

Personally I use Thunderbird, it's a bit clunky for Newsgroups but handles email well.

Quote I think that it can still be got from somewhere on the Internet but not sure where.
It's available at http://www.filehippo.com/download_windows_live_mail/8305/
But you may already know that!

Personally I find it a bit "retro" and limiting in some areas, though if you're used to Outlook Express it may well seem more familiar than the newer Microsoft alternatives.
Each to their own, but I prefer Outlook 2003, though am actually using 2007 as my main email client.
As noted above I also like and use Live Mail 2009 (& very much dislike 2011).

You need a license from Microsoft. It is NOT free. Outlook alone costs about £80 to £100, or it is some editions of Office - not the student/family ones though.
It is also 2 versions behind current so you'll only be able to buy it from "old stock"

I shall have to hunt for old stock. I assume that it will work with both XP and Win7.
