Windows 2000 v Zenwalk for speed

Would Zenwalk run faster than Windows 2000 SP4?
I am trying to get a bit of life out of a Celeron 333 for a guy for temporary web browsing. The machine originally had Windows 98 but I don't want to use that now as AVG Free 8 no longer supports it. I tried Windows 2000 but by the time I installed SP4 so I could use AVG the computer ran so slow it was almost unuseable. I have used Zenwalk before and know that it is very lite. Would it be much better?

much better.  you might also like to try tinyme:

it's even smaller than pclinuxos minime 2008, weighing in at 200mb and using the openbox desktop.

Thanks. I am currently installing Zenwalk for a try but also downloading Tinyme. I like the sound of it.

Unless you have very little memory win2k should be running fast on that pc you need at least 64 meg but 128meg or above is better. On old pc's I have tried win2k and various linux and win2k is always the fastest. If you only have like 32 meg ram that would be the problem
