Re: windows 9

I've downloaded the technical preview on to an old Windows 7 laptop and so far I have to say that I'm impressed Smiley

Re: windows 9

@chrcoluk
the only way I know of to get round the problem is with dvd based install media, iirc its possible to download them direct from Microsoft rather than using the store update system as business admins wont want people randomly using the store system and end up with all the networked machines being at different standards, so they provide "for administrators" stuff, not exactly sure how you go about getting it though
just because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you

Re: windows 9

not good start for me, hard locks up when says getting ready, spinning circle stops etc.
Tried multiple times, fails at exact same point every time.

Re: Windows 10 (was 9 until Microsoft changed the number)

Here in the US there was an update in today's LA Times. It confirms a release date for W10 for mid 2015. The update cost is about $40.

Update from W8 should really be free, but I guess it won't be.  Cry

You've got it but as Oldjim says that isn't accounting for MS exchange rates which usually is $1 = £1 Grin

Re: Windows 10 (was 9 until Microsoft changed the number)

Don't celebrate the soon arrival of Windows 10 too soon.  It occurred to me that Microsoft may be  jumping to Windows 10 (and missing 9 - which according to pattern should have been good) because they know they are about to foist another dud on us??  - Just a thought.

Re: Windows 10 (was 9 until Microsoft changed the number)

It was said in the US that they jumped W9 to completely break with the problems of W8. They wanted a fresh start.
I read somewhere that W10 is what W9 would have been had they gone with it.
