Windows 10 upgrade. How do I reserve?

I want to upgrade my Win 8 to the new Win 10.  The instructions (on Mirosoft site) says I must reserve a copy by first clicking on the Windows Logo on the Task Bar, lower right of the screen.  I cannot find the said Logo.
It goes on to say 'if you cannot see the Logo click on this link'    On doing so, it just reloads the page I've just left so I am non the wiser.
Can anyone help or advise please.
I am using a Sony laptop running Win 8.
I can resist everything except temptation.

Not sure.... but I don`t think Win 8 is eligible for the auto upgrade.... whereas 8.1 is....
You might find this linky may help.... it is a downloaded zip file  ...... once dowloaded and unzipped, you then have to click on Open with Administrator rights...

a "command" box opens... follow the instructions to see if the logo appears....
Good luck...

No, if you read it correctly, it that says that the Enterprise versions of Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 are excluded...  Wink

OK "probably".... to quote a famous lager advert ! !>...  doing a bit more research  on "is win 8 eligible for upgrade to win 10"... brought me this page...

which seems to confirm your version....

It's free (for now) – Unlike previous versions of Windows, for which you had to pay to upgrade, Windows 10 is being offered for free, with a catch. Users qualify for the free upgrade if they have a valid Windows 7 or Windows 8 licence. The new Windows 10 licence is tied to the machine on which the upgrade is performed. The opportunity to secure the free upgrade is open for 12 months, after which Windows 10 will cost between £80 to £120, depending on which version you are interested in.

Re: Windows 10 upgrade. How do I reserve?

Thanks for help so far.    From what I see from the above discussion I qualify for the free upgrade to win10 but so far have not been able to accomplish this.  I cannot do a clean installation because I cannot find  my product key.

Re: Windows 10 upgrade. How do I reserve?

you should not need to do a clean install if you follow the link given by rongtw and create an installation DVD/USB then run it from Windows.  That's what I did.
